Members of the YMCA Auxiliary prepare for the annual Christmas Bazaar to be sponsored by the group on Thursday November 20. A workshop will be held in the craft room from 1 to 3 p.m. and anyone regardless of YMCA membership is invited to participate.
Local society items list visits in Indiana and Maryland, library events, Moose Lodge and garden club meetings, church guild dinner, birthday greeting, Halloween prizes, and bazaar planning. Highlights include visits by Mr. and Mrs. Cooper and others, a heart surgery patient in Erie, and community group activities at Harbor Hall, McElroy’s, and Emmanuel Church.
Mrs Walter Cross of Spartansburg was honored at a stork shower hosted by her parents in Spartansburg. Guests included many area residents, with games, prizes, and pink blue and white decor featuring a stork and bootie themed cake.
Miss Julia Ann Savko and Merle A. Fedders wed at St. Thomas the Apostle Church Hawarden couple from Iowa and Erie area in a fall ceremony officiated by Rev. Doleski and Rev. Cooper. Attendants included maid of honor Kathy McLaughlin and decor featured autumn flowers. Reception for 250 at Brokenstraw Fish and Game Club followed by honeymoon in Puerto Rico and St Thomas. They reside in Dearborn Hall Edinboro. Savko is Edinboro State College graduate and housing director. Fedders is a marketing consultant.
Warren County Cooperative Extension hosts a Christmas event at the Warren County Fairgrounds on November 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Homemakers display handmade items and restored trunks while demonstrations feature Cro knit and dropeleth plastic decorations. Wallace Barlow will discuss early American woodenware. gifts for the Gifts for Giving program will be collected for patients at the State Hospital.
SET A RECORD NEW ORLEANS AP The Allman Brothers Band launched its Pride of the South tour with a Louisiana Superdome show on August 31 drawing an estimated 70 000 to 80 000 fans for the largest indoor concert in North America. The Charlie Daniels Band opened at 4 30 p m Wet Willie and the Marshall Tucker Band followed an hour intermission preceded the Allman Brothers set.
