November 4 Chester Pa. one man killed and several injured when an elevator in the Jobin J Buck Wig company pork packing plant collapsed as it ascended to the second floor. Hughie Collins Lawrence Whaley and William Roth were hurt. Collins died about an hour after admission to Chester Hospital. Elevator cables, recently insulated and deemed in good condition, snapped, sending workers to the cellar.
Governor Wilson was hurt when his car struck a road mound outside Hightstown on the way back to Princeton after a Red Bank speech. A gash on his head required shaving a patch for stitching. Captain MacDonald was bruised but not seriously hurt. The governor, dazed briefly, recovered and resumed duties, planning to speak in Passaic and Paterson.
