Poor Directors Say 1933 Fund Exhausted in Erin
Erin officials report the 1933 poor directors fund is exhausted after covering bills and institutional costs. Director Harry Wagner warns no relief money remains for rents or clothing, with only food funds available. He notes the law blocks advancing the 1933 appropriation and the current balance will cover none of next year’s relief needs. Meanwhile, a new coal venture in Wilkes-Barre plans to hire about 100 at the No. 10 tunnel site.
