Police Sick Over Pay Hike Offer in Painesville
City manager Dale Helsel said no panic button was pressed as officers called in sick over a pay dispute. The force, short by five, worked 12 hour shifts under Chief Ralph Kleeberger with three lieutenants on duty. Officers want a 20 percent raise, far above the city’s three percent offer, affecting patrolmen sergeants and lieutenants.
