Stolen Auto Minus Four Wheels Found Near Spartansburg

Corry State Police reported a 1956 auto stolen from Mrs. Lillian Nichols on R D 2 Spartansburg was found yesterday minus four wheels and the battery. Richard Hullies BD 1 Corry led police to the abandoned vehicle about 1,000 feet off a rural road southeast of Spartansburg. Nichols towed the car, value of missing items estimated at 80 dollars. In Pittsburgh Allegheny County approves a civil defense stock program with federal matching funds for localities to implement.

Ole Miss dorm raid uncovers small arms arsenal

Police wounded a military policeman by a firecracker during Halloween night tensions at the University of Mississippi. Soldiers with the National Guard and highway patrol assisted in a dormitory search at Lester Hall near Baxter Hall where James Meredith, the university’s first Black student, was housed. Strike halts Daily News largest paper in New York
