Driver crushed to death under gasoline tank truck
A gasoline tank truck was struck by westbound express train No. 8915 at the Summer Street crossing in Renovo. George Bemis, a Mead and Brown filling station employee, was instantly killed as the truck was crushed and the engine rested on him. The driver escaped alive, leaping from the cab as the train struck the rear of the vehicle. The accident halted the train shortly after 2 PM and an inquiry was opened by Police Chief Tipton.
