Corry and other Pennsylvania towns face a tight relief program with the June funding crunch. Federal aid may fill the gap after May's $10 million grant exhausted, as state and federal officials push for at least $10 million for June while awaiting relief bill action in Congress. Showdown Near On Poor Colony Issue At Erie
Controversy over buying Franklin Park homes for a two unit poor colony at Erie grows. Attorney Thomas Barber says a petition will seek withdrawal of approval from Midges A Rossiter and William Hirt, handed down in March, risking a new court order that could end the dispute or complicate it further. If court approval is withheld, poor directors fear bidding for the homes stalls, with a potential legal tangle since the plan relied on court consent. Controller Willis and Treasurer Taylor oppose the deal. Willis blocks the $2,000 down payment by refusing to counter-sign.
