Erie police probe possible fifth column
Erie Mayor Charles R. Barber disclosed on Monday that city police are quietly investigating alleged fifth column activities. Police report information is promptly shared with federal investigators, while officials stress secrecy to avoid a witch hunt. The mayor and Police Chief Barber defended the quiet approach as standard practice discussed at the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
