A Meadville lineman employed by the Northwestern trolley system was fatally electrocuted this morning near Ongpins Corners in a rural stop five miles west of the city. The worker, identified as a local resident, came into contact with a live wire while repairing or working near an exposed trolley line and was killed by the current.

Eleven counties plan a joint workhouse and industrial farm project meeting tomorrow at 10:00 a m in the Board of Commerce offices. No progress has occurred for months, and the session will review proposed sites and form a committee to select a location acceptable to all counties. Strong influence favors a penal institution near Corry as a central, populous point among counties.

Corry Men Leave for Draft Unions City Arrival Note

Corry boys called for the draft will travel to Union City tomorrow morning with twenty five autos provided by local citizens. They will join a special train at Union City at 11 o clock, pass through Corry at 11 20 bound for Can Lee Virginia, and return home afterward. Students and others urged to arrive at 7 30 to 8 a.m. for the departure.

Corry Lodge to Hold Farewell For Five Members Leaving for Service

A storm delayed a railroad crossing as Elks Lodge Corry and town residents protested a train halt near Main Street. Corry Lodge plans a farewell reception and luncheon to honor five members heading to Camp Lee, including Liew H. King and Albert Carlburg, with additional enlistees Frank Splesman Ray Forbes and Mark Tallent. Weather shows showers tonight and partly cloudy tomorrow.

Thirty eight Casualties and Youths Urged to Register

War Department report from General Pershing lists thirty eight casualties including seven killed in action and eighteen missing or wounded. Private Williams of the Corry recruiting station urges youths twenty one to register for the draft next month and to consider volunteer enlistment opportunities. Several Corry Bay men are noted enlisting in engineer and medical units, with names such as Homer T. Van Slyke Stanley A. Sobol and others among the listed volunteers.

Teachers Gather at Grinwold Home Social Session

Corry Teachers Association held a social session last evening at Mrs Ieanor Grinwold’s Mapla Avenue home. President Hattie Bon wivel reported nineteen teachers attended a 40-guest tureen supper at 6 30. A pleasant, quick session with visiting departed until September.

Weekly Red Cross Meeting Last Night

The Corry Chapter A C of C held its weekly executive board meeting outlining plans to dispatch Red Cross nurses to aid Belgians. Donations totaled $24.11 with other gifts from Concord Auxiliary Beavers Auxiliary and an appeal for more supplies. Forty four new members were reported for May and the Red Cross work room will operate Wednesday from 1 to 10 o’clock.
