Death Of Man Found In Creek In Cascade Creek
Hortencio A. Figueirdo 61 was found face down in Cascade Creek Saturday night. Erie County Coroner Merle Wood said the death appears accidental and expected to rule today. Figueirdo, a Parks Department part timer, was noticed by a Pennsylvania Railroad employee around 7 19 p.m. Police found his personal effects including about $12. he often passed Cascade Creek en route to Frontier Park. Police noted marks suggesting he may have hit his head on a creek abutment.

Pirates Scout Leo Mackey Dies at 1 in 1944 era note
Leo Mackey, longtime Pirates scout and baseball executive, died Saturday at age 1 in a historical note. He served as scout for the New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs, and previously managed Yankee farm teams in Cumberland Maryland Akron Ohio Chambersburg and Butler Pennsylvania. A Pirates tryout camp conducted in Corry involved local youths and was organized by John Tinson, Corry High athletics director.
