In Wilkes Barre on May 27 about 8 000 Knights Templar marched in uniform as part of the first state conclave. The parade drew over 10 000 wives and relatives and thousands of townspeople along a route past the reviewing stand. Tonight the auxiliary hosts a reception with white gowns. events include concerts drills and refreshments. The grand tournament and ball are set for the Armory with next year’s conclave chosen tomorrow. Police and detectives assist officials in crowd control and security.
A Philadelphia society member, Fthel Hun Tajliy, describes being broke and jobless after returning from Tris j to Philadelphia two weeks ago. She says she will need support while she seeks work and resents judgment from friends and employers. She references past work at a hotel and concerns about future employment.
Springfield May 27 The amusement ban prohibiting dancing games of chance theaters horse racing and other questionable amusements was partially lifted after a stormy session. Methodists must refrain from diversions not in the name of Jesus Christ and the report warns against immoral and questionable theatrics or motion picture performances.
Chicago May 27 United Press reports arrest of Adolphe Poprite 27 a waiter held at Hyde Park station in connection with the abduction and killing of Robert Franks son of Jacob Franks. Police identify him by description and examine a typewriter note linked to the Seidinapper case and the $10 000 reward.
A Boston bank messenger Herbert Hume of Guaranty Trust Company was robbed near the West Boston Bridge to Cambridge. The bandits took a bag containing 15000 dollars. Mrs G M Jones and Mrs Price returned home from Harrisburg this morning. a funeral was attended in Texasville for Mee King.
Pupils and parents met last evening with Superintendent Hemstreet at the Junior and Senior High School Auditorium to discuss whether a high school course is a necessary life preparation. The program featured music by the high school orchestra and speakers on industry profession business life and general junior high studies. The conference aimed to help students choose suitable studies for the next term.
