Good Roads Day Works Across Corry and Townships
Nearly 1,000 men and many volunteers joined Good Roads Day in Velo county and Erle county. In Corry 216 men from WW Brofexnonk and Wino of business met at the Bie Club and were driven to five surrounding townships to repair roads. Work covered Hare Creek road and old plank road along Calvimbas Avenue to Clymer, with road bed improvements, ditch cleaning, and stone work. The Corry Motor Club supervised, with town supervisors aiding. The effort showed what coordinated, local labor can achieve, and road repairs will continue under the club’s direction. The Corry Law Company donated gravel and two teams for use. Highways official Sept. of Highways Van Vivck praised the day’s value, noting restoration would exceed a $2,000 value if paid at standard wages, considering township work too.
