IKE AND ICE CREAM DRIVERS MAY STRIKE

May 26. About 3,000 milk and ice cream drivers announced readiness to strike if wage talks with the Greater union fail. The drivers seek a 15 cent per hour raise, while the union has offered eight cents. An extra 50 cents per day is added by War Labor Board rules from 1943, and the association proposed a six day week with a $5 weekly bonus for Saturday shifts if accepted.
