Samaquippa May 26 Capdajor 10 Hervantes, leader of the Moxtown raiders, was killed by American troops as they confronted a party raiding property near Cruven. An American sentry was wounded and another died later. Hervantes was shot during a dawn clash as troops moved to a railroad point about eight miles from Cruven.
State Highway Department officials reported countywide road maintenance, with 103 miles of late highway work in the county.
