PATCO Fights To Head All Air Controllers
Washington AP The Professional Air Traffic Controllers Organization seeks sole official union for 11,500 FAA controllers as hearings approach. FAA Administrator Shaffer says single nationwide unit is inappropriate due to decentralized FAA management and cites alleged PATCO violations and diverse local conditions. Opponents include FAA, the National Association of Government Employees, Air Traffic Control Association, and other labor groups.
