Contempt charges sought against Hunt in wiretap probe

Five House members filed a resolution to compel Sgt Matthew Hunt to testify before the Howe investigations committee. Hunt refused to appear, citing orders from Atty. Gen. Israel Packer not to testify. The move could lead to contempt and possible jail, or a court appeal that may delay any enforcement. Hunt led the Pennsylvania Crime Commission detail tied to an alleged telephone tap at the King of Prussia motel and testified about the taps in a prior court-martial related to the fired troopers. The resolution cites his key role and insists his testimony is essential for developmental facts in the case. Signing the resolution were Republicans H. Joseph Hepford, David Turner, Eugene Geesey, and Democrats Russell LaMarca, Joseph Rhodes.
