Bank official to answer charges in Knickerbocker case

New York May 2. Atherton Black treasurer of Knickerbockes Savings and Loan, closed by the banking superintendent, is expected to appear in court to face grand jury charges. Investigation shows a cash shortage of over 15000 dollars. Black allegedly drew a check for 1705.90 for 27 shares bought by William Sparrow. Sparrow allegedly never received the stock or the money. District Attorney Whitman said the probe so far points to a larger shortage and a deposit was placed with the state banking superintendent to cover potential losses.
