General Ridgway testifies before Congress that United Nations forces did not use chemical or germ warfare in Korea. He labels Communist charges as false in their entirety and warns of pro war propaganda by enemy leaders.
Fire destroyed nine tank cars two warehouses and a switch engine after seven diesel-powered railroad cars derailed into a standing engine light at high speed. Fire Chief Charles Meadows estimated the damage at one million dollars. Two plant workers reported seeing the incident while a pickup truck was nearby.
