County Cannot Spend on Lake Weed Control under New Law
Chautauqua County cannot use county funds for weed removal or control in Chautauqua or other lakes under the new county laws. Allan A. Cass, county attorney, said Albany’s Department of Audit and Control affirmed there is no provision forcing a change in the county’s prior stance. The board of supervisors had asked if the county could appropriate money for this purpose, but the Albany ruling maintains no authority exists for a separate weed control project.
