New York May 22 The body of a woman found in Chautauqua Lake over a week ago remains unidentified per Coroner George E Blood of Fredonia. Many viewed the body but no recognition. a photo has been sent to the public for aid. The woman is estimated aged 40 to 45, 5 feet 6 inches tall, about 160 pounds, light brown or wal hair, wearing a blue coat, black skirt, gray gloves, low shoes and blue stockings. She wore two rings, possibly a wedding band and a square cut stone ring, and a hat may have been worn. Coroner notes possible German descent.
Jamestown May 22 police and fire crews broke up a street brawl on East First Street where six people were arrested after a melee involving men and women. Carmella Conti is jailed on an open assault charge for slashing Mike Costa in the head with a razor causing a scalp wound. Costa, after treatment, is jailed on an open charge.
