Burglary at terminal tied to prior cigarette thefts
Cullis reported the door was breached by chiseling a hole and police suspect 496 cases were moved from a trailer. Investigators believe a truck blocked near the rear to haul the goods away. The Jan 1967 theft of a trailer containing $50,000 in merchandise, $30,000 of which were cigarettes, remains unrecovered. Similarities suggest the same culprits. In St Louis, Samuel Linder asks police to monitor a 1:30 pm daily robbery window after a youth thief struck thrice in 10 days, taking $120 at knife point.
