Pennsylvania Farm Outlook Improves After Rainy Period
The Federal-State crop reporting service says Pennsylvania fields show better prospects with recent rains. Plowing is 10 percent complete and seeding about half finished, with winter wheat and rye in good shape though barley is spotty. Frosts caused some damage, notably in Hazleton area, while cattle production and egg output rose. Prices paid by farmers declined slightly, reducing purchasing power, and animal inspections flagged some condemnations. Normally about one tenth of wells drilled are wildcats.
