Harrisburg May 20 labor readers and legislators report the delay in changing the workmen's compensation act has been abandoned. A labor lobby pressed House committees to favorably consider measures on compensation for miners' asthma and other diseases and shortening the payment-activation period from seven to three days. U S beauty is freed of murder acquittal in France
Mrs Charlotte Nixon Nirdlinger of St. Louis shot and killed her jealous husband during a quarrel and was acquitted by a French jury. Prosecutor avorelli conceded their unhappy marriage but argued the law allowed no one to take justice into their own hands.

Youth Kills Former Girlfriend and Self in Springfield

Two Severe Earth Tremors Reported From New York
May 20 report by Rather J. J. Lyne of Fordham University notes two severe earthquakes recorded at 10:31 and 10:87 A M EDT. Shocks possibly originated in northern South America or Alaska, observed at the selamograph lab. A second item states 152 pound rails, the heaviest ever laid on a main line, were placed in service near Tyrone, Pennsylvania.
