Reading girl scolds lawmakers for sloppy conduct in Harrisburg

Josephine Elia, a 10-year-old Reading fifth grader, visited the state Capitol May 2, watched proceedings, and wrote Gov. Shapp a letter criticizing lawmakers for papers on the floor, feet on desks, and readers during roll call. Speaker Fineman read the letter aloud and urged decorum. The girl said she enjoyed the visit but noted the uncouth behavior and thanked the governor for meeting the children. She added she was surprised to receive a response from Big people like that.
