Man Loses Arm in Auto Crash Near Ridgway
Charles Swanger 23 of Ridgway, an Erie foundry employee, lost his left arm four inches from the shoulder when a tractor trailer sideswiped his car a mile north of here on a sharp curve. Harvey Hampton of Cleveland aided by applying a tourniquet. Swanger’s condition was reported satisfactory at Erie County General Hospital.

Two Injured In Area Auto Crashes
In East Vandergrift and Ridgway areas two motorists were injured Saturday. John Margin, 49, of Weedville, suffered facial lacerations when his car ran off Route 235 near St Marys and was treated at St Marys Hospital. A 13 year old East Vandergrift resident on Route 219 near Ridgway rolled a car after hitting a tree and was admitted to Ridgway Hospital in fair condition.

Erie Men Held Under Mann Act Charges
Erie brothers sr Kaymona and Jovery Mossburg who disappeared January 16 with a 14 year old gun were charged by the FBI with Mann Act violations and jailed in two thousand dollars bond each. Raymond Mossburg pleaded guilty to contributing to a delinquent minor and is jailed on a separate bond.

Tug Goes Aground As Storm Hits Lake
A lake tug ran aground near North East during a 135 mile gale with 60 mph gusts while a 27 foot motor boat suffered a motor failure. The crew freed the tug after about nine hours and the owner of the grounded craft reported he was okay. Separate notice from Pittsburgh reports Mrs. Margaret Kane, 51, wife of mayoral candidate Leonard P. Kane, underwent brain surgery at St Francis Hospital with a critical condition after a cerebral hemorrhage.
