Retiring R D Carriers Honored at Corry Dinner
George Macdonald and John Wesley Ober longtime Corry rural mailers were celebrated at a farewell dinner in Corry last evening. The pair retired February 28 after service since July 1 1901. Post employees hosted a 42 guest event with toastmaster Clyde Hall and gifts of chairs presented by A Johnson assisting postmaster. Decorations added to the special table as tributes to their careers. Memory services for Robert J. Hickey noted attendees Ray Sweeney and others returned home.

Prompt Rescue Saves Local Men From Sewer Cave-In
Lawrence Heidiger and Floyd Dougherty narrowly escaped death when a six foot deep sewer excavation at Mrs. G D Heaths on East Frederick street caved in. Horace Brynolfson and John McLaughlin aided in rescue before emergency crews arrived. Heidiger sustained facial fractures and possible internal injuries. Dougherty had a sprained ankle and bruises. Dougherty returned home after Dr Gillette treated him. Heidiger was taken to Dr Ohare then ordered to the hospital.

Mrs. Ernest Dimmick of Corry was seriously injured in an Erie auto accident this afternoon when the car driven by Mrs. Paul Harvey collided with a westbound youth's vehicle at Parade and 26th Street. Dimmick suffered a fractured nose and major cuts. Harvey escaped injury. Both women were taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Erie and later returned to Corry.
