Pasture Improvement Urged by County Agent Crossman

Corry area farmers were urged to boost pasture quality as only 18 of 142 reported participating in an improvement program. Crossman said average pasture size is 57 acres with 4 acres per animal unit, and one and a half acres of good pasture can support one animal unit. He advised lime, acid phosphate, and manure, plus possible reseeding with clover and pasture mixes, and suggested contacting the Erie County Agricultural Extension Office for guidance and the State College leaflet on pasture improvement.
