One Killed Five Hurt In Route 22 Crash
A two car collision on Route 22 near a Westmoreland County community killed Peter J. Agona, 47, of Penn Westmoreland County and injured five others. Anthony Constantine 46 of Jeannette and Richard Freeman 21 of Indiana admitted to Westmoreland County Hospital. Pav Bam 23 Clarence Shaffer 21 Richard Litkehart 24 treated and released. Police could not determine who operated the other car. Also: Sandi Miles, 16, of Ligonier was named Bicentennial Queen of Ligonier.

Brocton Man Killed When Car Slips Off Jack
A 61 year old Brocton resident, Joseph N. Kichle of Route 20, was crushed when a car he was working on slipped from a screw type jack. The frame and wheel drum crushed his neck and back and he died at the scene. Coroner Theodore Morse of Brocton issued an accidental death certificate.
