Johnson Calls Credit-Disclosure Bill a Great Victory
Washington AP Eight-year Capitol Hill fight over a cost-of-credit disclosure bill nears final steps with Senate House conferees agreeing on a compromise. The measure requires lenders to reveal annual percentage rate and total credit cost in dollars and cents, covering about 100 billion dollars yearly. President Johnson expects rapid signature. The bill influences revolving credit by mandating both monthly and annual rate disclosures and allows an optional effective rate based on annual yield.
