United Press reports on May 16 that roughly 21 million workers are under NRA codes as the recovery agency marks its twelfth month. About 1,127 codes are active, with 21 million workers covered and 90 percent of the original target. A further 2,300 codes are in process, many likely abandoned with new policies. Reemployment of about 3 million and payroll gains around 8 billion dollars are claimed, while NRA has spent over 6.18 million. Four major industries, steel, auto, coal, and electrical manufacturing, collectively employ about 1.6 million in whole or in part under the NRA push for wage increases and hour reductions.
