Detroit May 13. The marriage of Reginald Grudde and his bride took place at the border on Ambassador Bridge where a court ceremony was led by Circuit Judge John B. Watts. Authorities said the union was legal by the length of the bride’s finger after border issues blocked traditional entry.
In Harrisburg on May 13 the legislature weighs using a discharge motion to push administration fair rate bills past the judiciary general committee which postponed action indefinitely. May 13 San Francisco Anita Fross reports a merger uniting Golden State Company and National Dairy Products Company. The deal gives Golden State 20 million dollars in assets and the national firm 233 million, exchanged at two Golden State shares for one National Dairy share.
Paris reports Paul Doumer, president of the Senate, elected France's 13th president by a National Assembly vote with Aristide Briand withdrawing. The first ballot produced a split result and a second ballot was required. The scene in the Bourbon palace saw high emotion as MPs and senators debated pacific foreign policy and crowning Doumer.
Dr Samuel P Brooks 67 president of Baylor University lies near death after a long battle with illness. Physicians say only hours remain as he reflects on college days and recalls Pat Neff a former Texas governor who stayed at his bedside. Brooks signed diplomas for hundreds of seniors before his strength faded and death neared.

A large oil storage tank exploded in Capitol Hill Oklahoma City, top hurling 25 000 barrel tank tops and causing fires that destroyed a home and damaged two more tanks. A child was burned slightly as residents fled, and smoke blanketed the area while fire crews battled flames for hours.
Mansfield Ohio May 13 Wage reductions to 80 percent in one year were blamed for the walk out of 1800 Empire Steel Corporation workers. Ten day strike leaders prepared a list of demands for officials. Strikers organized within 12 hours to combat ongoing wage cuts in this open shop plant.
In New York May 12 Combesd Stokes from Kentucky hills watches as Cornbread Stakes a bone cracker performs in a Fourth Avenue office. He demonstrates by cracking cow ribs calling it the machine gun as he imitates horse trotting and galloping sounds.
