Corry Delays Enforcement of New Parking Ordinance

Corry's traffic ordinance restricting parking on Center Street from 8 am to 9 pm will take effect May 15 but enforcement likely won’t start until June due to delays in shipping parking limit signs and painting. Legislature speeds work in Harrisburg ahead of adjournment

In Harrisburg on May 12 officials expect to push almost all pending bills with Harle administration support toward final action before May 23. Senate votes expected on the $34,400,000 personal property tax, amended chain store tax, labor relations bill, women's 44 hour workweek bill, and broad compensation reform. Bread strike threatens Pittsburgh area with shortages

Pittsburgh May 12 a strike by several hundred bakery workers and 400 wholesale truck drivers disrupted the district. Union officials said about 400 truck drivers and around 800 bakery employees walked out demanding wage increases of about 10 percent.
