Bank Holdup Ring Busted After Glass Clues
A gang linked to seven eastern bank robberies totaling about 1.0 million dollars was captured after detectives noticed a middle aged man wearing pince-nez glasses at a New York bank. The disguise aided earlier holdups as investigators tracked the group to a New Jersey hideout and seized cash and weapons. The ringleader nicknamed the Colonel and four accomplices were arrested in a coordinated police operation.

Wagon Demolished by Car Injures Woman on Main Street
A late evening crash on Main Street near Horus A caused a wagon to be demolished and left Mrs. O. Hicks of East Church Street injured and hospitalized in Corry with a concussion and facial injuries. The wagon, driven by William Fuller with his wife and two young children, was struck by Ronald Nichols’ Studebaker, which failed to stop after a 96 foot brake attempt. Police say Fuller’s team carried a rear red flasher. Nichols reported his view was blocked by oncoming lights.

Arthur Goring, 19, son of Mr and Mrs Frank Goring of West Church Street, escaped serious injuries when his Studebaker left the highway and plunged over a ledge about eight miles from Erie. He was en route to Erie Business College. He sustained cuts and bruises to face and head but was not gravely hurt as the car was badly damaged.
