Thompson Wins Title In Long Bout Against Young Jack
Thompson tallied in the ninth round to shake up Young Jack and take the round. He circled through rounds ten and eleven while Fields failed to penetrate his defense. In the twelfth Fields fought back, won that round, then pounded Jackie in the thirteenth and fourteenth. Fields held often but Young Jack’s punches lost steam and the champ did not knock him down.
