State May Take Normal Schools Under Board Action

Wurtisburs May 1 A move toward state takeover of thirteen normal schools was authorized by the Board of Education after yesterday’s session. A committee will study the center, draft legislation, and the board may assume control of equity and trust assets. Schools reportedly hold about 5 000 000 in realty and buildings. the state could acquire stock, mortgages, and floating debt totaling around 925 000. The committee includes Jobie 8, Rilling, Hele, William Lauder, and Superintendent Coughlin. The board praises current school plans, with twelve projects approved, totaling about 285 000 in value. The secretary was instructed to gather uniform playground data from counties and districts. The Supreme Court’s constitutionality ruling on the school code pleased members, who pledged to push a beneficial act for the state’s interests.

Change in P. and E. Pullman Program

Beginning May 26 a light difference will occur in the running of the Pullman service on the Philadelphia and Erie division of the Pennsylvania Railroad. The steel sleeper will stay on the Erie train, while the wooden sleeper and buffet car move to the Gil City train in the morning. This will allow a solid steel train through to Erie. General Agent Willis of Erie has been transferred to Wilmington and will be succeeded in Erie by J By Lard.
