Shafer Pares Opponents of Convention Reform
Shafer cites mixed reactions to calling a constitutional convention noting the minor judiciary fears abolition of the JP system while some JPs mock or rebuke the idea. A separate May 16 primary bond issue for land and water conservation is praised by landscape architects, with a “truth squad” formed to counter false claims by revision opponents. The squad includes former Attorney General Schnader and other officials. Also: Sam Lucchese says Johnson's bootmaker, the President’s shoes reportedly tight, may lack proper arch support leading to discomfort.
