Trial of Walter Stanton in Crawford County Involuntary Manslaughter
Walter Stanton twenty seven of Meanville faced involuntary manslaughter charges in Crawford County court over the February auto death of Edmund W. Dingham twenty five. The trial neared completion with testimony finished after four hours and 17 witnesses. The jury could hear closing arguments today with the case likely to go to them later. The Commonwealth argued excessive speed caused the crash near the Broadford bridge between Saegertown and Venango. Stanton denied fault and suggested a possible blow-out. Both men had been seen at drinking venues with whisky served to each before departure while Stanton acknowledged beer but not whisky. The crash occurred on the southern approach to Broadford bridge.
