Erie County to Run Summer Jobs Program for Youth
Erie County will run a Summer Employment Program starting mid-June for about 90 disadvantaged youths aged 14 to 22. A U S Department of Labor grant of roughly 72000 funds the plan with two parts: vocational training at Yo Tech School and a Work Experience placement in county sites. Climber Killed in Himalayas Near Gurja Himal
In Nepal three climbers faced disaster on Mt Gurja Himal. Francois Soubrane, 24, of Paris, died as strong winds swept him and two companions down the mountain. One woman injured seriously and a second climber lightly injured. Authorities confirmed from the base camp message.
