Corry Area High School Environmental Club will launch a beautification program Saturday with tree and shrub plantings at the flagpole, front bulletin board planter, and courtyards. English teacher Keith Hillkirk and student leader Brian Huelat outlined the plan at a board meeting. The project aims for low maintenance plantings, fencing to deter damage, and coordination with the Student Council which has donated funds. The club has about 500 dollars and fifty members expect to raise more as planting expands to additional areas and seasons.
State police investigated a three-vehicle crash on Route inside Hydetown Borough injuring four people. Abe L. Hathaway and wife Elizabeth of Titusville were in serious condition at Titusville Hospital. Log truck driver Randall Atkins and car driver Guy Foltz were admitted for observation. The southbound log truck crossed the center line and hit the Hathaway car, which was then struck by Foltz’s vehicle. Hathaway was trapped for about an hour and freed by Titusville volunteers using hydraulic tools. The incident remains under investigation.

Tornadoes struck Missouri Iowa and Kansas on Wednesday killing at least four people and causing extensive property damage. In Pleasant Hill and Harrisonville Missouri, townspeople faced wrecked schools and a destroyed trailer court while Fort Dodge Iowa suffered two tornadoes damaging homes and a high school. Police reported dozens injured and hundreds of cars damaged as rescue crews scoured debris late into the night.
In Harrisburg, a Philadelphia facility Town Court Nursing Center is named in a special grand jury presentment. The report accuses owner Town Court Nursing Home Inc. of endangering patients, medical fraud, and welfare violations after 12 hospitalizations and nine deaths linked to alleged improper care.
