A 15 year old junior high pupil at Maryland Park Junior High opened fire, killing teacher Praver Cameron and wounding coach Francis D. Wagner and two other male teachers. He had been expelled two months earlier for threats. Police say the suspect, Ray Prevatte, was charged with murder and related counts and will face a preliminary hearing next Friday in Marlboro.
Panama City police say 33 year old father of six, unemployed electrician, confessed to molesting a 12 year old boy and killing his younger brothers. He admitted taking Douglas Wilson, 4, and David Wilson, 1, from a bayou near a trailer home, throwing the older into the water first, then the younger, during a boat incident.
A blaze broke out this afternoon at 216 Wright Street the home of Mrs Mix Loon Rout in Corry. Thick smoke poured from the dwelling as firefighters arrived at about 1:90 p m and entered the basement scene. Firemen battled the flames and appeared to have control by press time with the cause under investigation.
A Corry youth who confessed to stealing small items from several stores over three years will be given a probationary chance to straighten up. Police Magistrate Melvin Cobbett approved a 60 day term with no working merchants for restitution, to keep him out of trouble, pending disposition of the case.

A 90 minute hearing on two week driving charges against Deas Miller ended with no ruling. Alderman Cobbett reserved decision until Monday after reviewing testimony. Police said Miller crossed center line, nearly caused a head on with James Watson, then fled scene to a service station before returning. Watson’s father suggested intoxication. Miller was given a local examination, which found no intoxication. State Police had earlier detained Miller on Route 6 after near collisions with patrol cars.
London reports secret service agents investigate the disappearance of Lionel Crabb a Royal Navy reserve commander known as Buster Crabb. He vanished near a Soviet cruiser in Portsmouth harbor on April 19 during a mystery project for the Admiralty. The Admiralty offers a brief statement that he is presumed missing with no further details.
Two men collapsed on city streets and were admitted to Corry Meat Hospital this morning after separate incidents. Raymond Spear, 50, of 24 Park Place, cited as being in satisfactory condition, reportedly blacked out while walking to Ajax Tran Works unismoke and was taken to hospital by police after a conference with a physician. A second man, who contacted police later, said he had blacked out while driving and was hospitalized after a physician examined him. the hospital did not record a name or full details.
A Warren crash yesterday killed Miss Hasél Thurston and seriously injured three others. The station wagon driver Roy J Power, and his wife Irene, were also hurt with multiple injuries. A third passenger, Amer Jones, suffered a fractured skull and facial injuries. Police say Thurston drove west on Route 6 before Power’s wagon veered and struck her car.
City officials warn five paving petitions must be filed by Monday at 8 am during the start of the City Council session. Signed petitions not submitted must be filed by proper officials, or action will be taken. Areas include East Smith to Pennsylvania Avenue, Grace from Franklin to West Smith, Liberty from Pennsylvania to Summer, and Pennsylvania Avenue to Erle Ballsold wicks, with Vine Street and Ohio Street still pending. In other news, Harry C. Davis, 68, former Chrysler Building Corp executive and adviser to the Chrysler family, died in Bronxville yesterday.
Victor Riesell, labor columnist for the New York Daily Mirror and 192 other papers, was struck in the face with acid outside Lindy’s on Broadway and Bleecker Street. He has lost vision in both eyes. doctors say recovery is unlikely. The incident targets his coverage of labor racketeering and unions. Reports say a reward fund, supported by newspapers, unions, and the Labor Press, has failed to identify the assailant. Secretary of Labor James P. Mitchell expressed sympathy and called for redoubled efforts to find and punish the perpetrator.
New applications for work in Corry totaled 183 in April, up from 99 in March. The office reports 87 veterans and 105 females among applicants, with 56 job openings and 46 placements led by clerical and sales, services, and semi skilled work. Unemployment compensation claims rose to 235 April from 140 in March while continued claims fell to 1,285.
A Clymer woman, Merrin Finink, 42, was treated at Corry Memorial Hospital after hot grease spilled on her right hand at home. She was discharged following treatment. Another victim, Robert Mulvin, 19, of 910 East Main Street, required X ray observation of the small finger of the right hand and was released after treatment. Oliver Carter sustained injuries in a vehicle accident near Spartansboro, needing X ray observation of the left knee and was released after treatment.
A 19 year old mother, Mrs Mary Ann Jewell, waited at the city police station as two officers argued over who would drive her to Alderman George Gordon’s home. The dispute delayed efforts to return her baby taken by her husband’s family. Gordon advised legal aid, and firefighter George Collier helped arrange the return. The child was returned to the mother after Collier’s intervention.
UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold travels from Rome to New York to deliver a detailed report on his month long mission toward easing Arab Israeli tensions. He will brief the Security Council after securing ceasefire pledges from Israel and Egypt Jordan Syria and Lebanon.
Officials of the U S Air Force outlined plans for the May 8 test of a hydrogen bomb near Bikini Atoll. The weapon, described as among the largest in the series, could have explosive strength around 16 000 tons of TNT. The bomber McKinley will release the device from high altitude as the Cherokee shot is aimed near Bikini Lapeon.
A two-vehicle T formation crash on Middle road injured the drivers, one a 24 year old Wesleyville man and the other a 48 year old Ree resident. Both were hospitalized with head and back injuries while a third party sustained a laceration and was treated and released. Police report notes the accident occurred after a missed turn and an apparent failure to notice the road, leading to a flip onto its side and subsequent collision.
