Job Insurance Found Real Aid To Unemployed In PA
The Corry area notes job insurance as real help for out of work residents. Pennsylvania's unemployment compensation, effective Feb 1 1938, requires claimants to earn at least 18 times their weekly benefit and register with the state employment service. Benefits begin after a three week waiting period, then continue up to 19 weeks with weekly checks capped at 15 dollars. The program emphasizes employment over relief, with the Corry office at 13616 N Center Street open daily to connect employers with job seekers, led by Manager Stewart A Long who cites strong local referrals.
