Woodin Dies in New York After Banking Crisis Service

William H. Woodin, Treasury secretary during the early Roosevelt banking crisis, died in Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat hospital. President Roosevelt mourned him, and Woodin's funeral was scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, with burial in Berwick, Pennsylvania. He leaves a wife, a daughter Mary Minor Helso, son William H. Woodin Jr. in Tucson, and two other daughters.

Return of Kidnapped Tucson Child Expected Today

Six year old June Robles abducted a week earlier near Tucson is predicted to be returned safe within hours. Negotiations reportedly center on a possible ransom of about 15000 dollars with intermediaries including Al Aguirre and Bernabe Robles. Washington May 4 report to the Senate banking committee blames the collapse of the Union Trust Company of Cleveland Ohio on the policies of former president Joseph Fr McNutt. Narrow Escape at North Corry Porch Collision

A truck driven by Loys, a drug dealer, crashed into the upstairs porch at the Emmett Price home on North Center Street near Columbus Avenue. The porch bowed but did not collapse. Mrs. Price and a grandchild narrowly escaped injury while two occupants were on the porch. The driver was not injured as W. H. Ells returned home later that afternoon.

Alaska Earthquakes Recorded By Fordham Seismograph

Two severe earthquakes centered in Alaska were logged today by the Fordham University seismograph. The first shock struck around 12 44 a.m. and a second about seven minutes later. The tremors ceased shortly before 3 a.m. The disturbance was about 8 240 miles northwest of New York.

Large Forest Fire Destroys Land in Butler County

A major Butler County forest fire in two townships burned for six hours before containment. The Amber land valued at 150000 dollars, a three by four mile strip of timber and wells were lost. Five hundred volunteers helped fight the blaze in Clearfield and Winfield townships. five wells owned by Phillips Gov Gu, two by Rapp and Company, two by Lang and Co, suffered destruction. No injuries reported.

Kinley Again Heads Corry Lodge BPOE

J Fred Kinley was reelected exalted ruler of Corry Lodge of Bilks at a largely attended meeting last evening. Other officers named included A M Lite leading night, Thomas Garrity leading pil Unig, Hawell Cragg lecturer, W T Giblin secretary, Harry Powers treasurer, John Paulson tyler. Officers will be installed June 10 by Meaulville lodge officers. A fish dinner for ninety two members closed the session.

Truck stolen from Meadville man found stripped of cargo

Willard Nelson of Meadville Pennsylvania was kidnapped by hijackers yesterday. The hijackers took his truck on the Hubbard Youngstown road and released him near Brookfield after several hours. A farmer discovered the empty machine along the Pulasii West Middlesex road, two miles from West Middlesex, reporting it to the state highway patrol. Police said $1100 in merchandise had been taken.
