Columbia Gas Stockholders Vote on Large Rights Offering
The Columbia Gas stockholders approve a rights offering of about 31.5 million dollars to subscribe for 20 par value common shares at 21 dollars per share with a 36 cent per share interest adjustment. Subscriptions are due Aug 25, Nov 16, and Feb 15, and the issue will raise funds for treasury advances and general corporate purposes. The move follows word from president Philip G Gossler that no new merger is anticipated. Net earnings for the year ended March 31 show 187,160 against 23,292,616 the prior year.

Drunken driver injures two in York fatal drag death
In York Pa on May 4 two 18 year old girls were killed and three others injured in a chain of accidents caused by Roy M Jacoby 19 whose car struck and dragged Charlotte Frei 18 more than 100 feet after previously side swiping several parked cars a physician said Jacoby appeared intoxicated.
