Bill Would Add Grounds For Divorce Reform
In Harrisburg the House nears a final vote on a controversial divorce reform bill. The measure adds two grounds: separation by mutual consent for at least one year due to irreconcilable differences, and serious mental disorder requiring confinement for at least three years with no prospect of discharge for another three. Rep. David Savitt pushed for a corroborative witness to irreconcilable differences to win more votes. If it fails, lawmakers may push a narrower bill allowing only mental hospitalization based divorce.
