Erie Cop Tied to Robbery in Alleged Sting
Brim May 13 Erie patrolman Michael Shea faces Tuesday questioning by higher police officials over claims he plotted the robbery of a Pearl Street shoe store and aided an alleged gang. Accuser Thomas Trainor, a former boxer, was arrested by Shea on April 22 and questioned before release. Police say Trainor's charges lack sufficient evidence. Shea, under indictment on a statutory charge, was arrested last winter for the same offense but the case was dismissed. Details of other alleged thefts surface, including an $8,000 jewelry heist, though records show Shea was not on the beat that night and was elsewhere in the city.
