Two Tennessee troopers accompanied the marchers in two patrol cars to the Georgia line. Hecklers shouted racial slurs and gravel was thrown at times while many Negroes waved along the highway. Five marchers belong to the Congress of Racial Equality and five to the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. Robert Gore, 31, helped lead the march carrying a sign for equal rights and Millsaps or bust. Floyd Simbbon, a white grocer, faced murder charges in Moore’s slaying earlier this week.
