Mrs Georgia Ednn Bachofner wife of Ernest A Bachofner died last night at 581 East Wayne Street after a long illness. She was born in Erie in her 57th year and lived in Corry 38 years. Survived by husband a son Richard J Bachofner in the Navy a daughter Mrs Charlotte Staples and two grandchildren. Also three sisters Mrs Frank Lathrop Mrs Jack Borden and Mrs Olira Sandoval and two brothers Leslie Smith and John Smith. Funeral services will be held at the home Thursday at 2 o'clock with burial in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Harrisburg May 2 Juvenile delinquency and education along with the impact of population hardships on churches were discussed at the one day Labyrinthast convention of the Pennsylvania Council of Churches in the state capital.
City Council last evening elected Walter H L Scott to a four year term as City Treasurer while Don D William was chosen for a four year term as City Engineer. Scott, nominated by Soundmen Kinley, will earn $55 per month salary. Williams has served three and a half years and will be sworn in for another term. No other nominations were offered.
George Still 67 longtime operator of a vacant restaurant on East Main Street and former Robert Koppel establishment died suddenly last evening at 1 20 a m while visiting customers in his own business. Deputy Coroner Charles Keating ruled no inquest needed and said the death followed a long heart condition. The body was moved to Crowe Funeral Home and then to the home of his son George Still Sr. Survived by wife two sons Fred and George in Union City and Geneve N Y a daughter Miss Shreve of Union City and four sisters Funeral services set for Thursday at St Teresa's Church Union City.
A fire at the Carpell Merrill home at 31 South Street Sunday afternoon around 2 30 caused about 2500 dollars in losses. Merrill said insurance covers the loss. The attic fire spread along rafters and roof before discovery by Merrill who was working on his car near the garage. He noted valuable antiques including a case of music once owned by his uncle Fred Ceypoll, a noted musician.
