Seek Opinion On Authority Of New Poor Board Erin May 2
Controller Harvey M. Willis seeks legal clarity on whether the new poor board is governed by laws applying elected county officials. Attorney Clarence T. Bryan said the act appointing directors suggests they are not regular county officials, raising questions about required countersignatures and county funding checks. A court ruling may be needed if Willis cannot resolve the issue, potentially affecting Franklin Park homes and the planned poor colony.

Edward Heineman of Roosevelt Long Island, owner of the car, and the other two occupants escaped with minor bruises as the car rolled end over end, landing upright about 100 feet from the turn. The party said the driver had insisted on speed despite warnings and had stopped in Warr to wash his eyes before continuing home. They rode a taxi to Salamanca and took a train to New York.
