Bridges Moves to Speed Action Facing Fight Over Air Force Bill
Washington May 1 The 70 group air force plan stalled in the Senate as a dispute over non military matters delayed action on the 3.293 billion bill to expand the air force. Senator Bridges moved to speed the measure but faces objections from several Republicans and a housing bill dispute. Senator Taft's position favored expanding air power but his exact choice between 70 and 50 group plans remains unclear. The session ended with plans to pursue floor action after further deliberations next week.
