Mrs Roy Reed of 408 South Persent Street appointed directress of nurses at Corey Memorial Hospital. The Supt. Bhigar Alexander announced the new post as part of the hospital’s expansion plan, with 17 registered nurses and 11 aides under her supervision. Reed, a Providence Hospital trained nurse, has been serving in various roles since 1938 and most recently as operating room supervisor.
Cecil Akam, a former Dunkirk resident and Beymis Point school teacher, was named pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dunkirk after the previous minister died. Akam will remain in Dewittville until fall as he plans to run a summer camp near De itville, continuing the church’s interim pastor role.
BELLEFONTE March oi Three Philadelphia youths, David Dorey 22 Harry Biel 21 and Harold Poster 25, convicted of a 1987 Berks county killing, faced planned execution. They were brought to Rockview Penitentiary for the first triple execution since 1939, with orders from county authorities and a spokesman noting uncertain stay of execution.
A traffic collision injured one person as a passenger in a two-vehicle crash along Route A near Medway to Little Couley. Savitky, McLaughlin and Fitaserald were involved. damage was estimated at $480 for the car and $95 for the truck. Police said investigators would determine arrests.
Ralph Satch Foster Jr. of Erie, formerly of this city, has been included in the first list of Pennsylvanians passing the Certified Public Accountants examinations.
